Mark Ruark
Administrator/Principal

 

Mr. Ruark has 33 years in education, most recently as principal at Jefferson High School in Festus, Missouri., where he was awarded the Jefferson County School Counselor's Advocate of the Year. Mr. Ruark also served on the Governor's Task Force on Vocational and Technical Education, and was an assistant principal, athletic director, teacher, and coach in the Cape Girardeau School District. Mr. Ruark and his wife Rhonda have three children: Jay, a dentist in Nashville, Tennessee, and father to grandson P.J.; Nick, a 2012 Saxony graduate; and Nathan, a freshman at Saxony. This is his second year at SLHS.

Sam Sides

Mr. Sides is a 1973 graduate of Jackson High School and a 1978 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Education. He has taught at Leopold High School, Meadow Heights High School, and Jackson High School during his career. He is a member of Connection Point Church in Jackson. This is his seventh year at SLHS.

Judith Fuchs

Ms. Fuchs is a 1988 graduate of Valparaiso University. She received a Masters Degree in Mathematics in 1993 and a Masters Degree in Counseling in 2000. She taught Mathematics and Old Testament for a number of years at Lutheran high schools in New York City and San Antonio, Texas. Ms. Fuchs is presently living in Cape Girardeau and is a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. This is her tenth year at SLHS.

Rhonda Wessel

Mrs. Wessel is a 1978 graduate of Chaffee High School and a 1982 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.  Her career includes nearly 30 years of sales, marketing, event planning and fundraising experience in Southeast Missouri.  She and her family are members of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.  This is her fifth year at SLHS.

Talitha Beaudean

Mrs. Beaudean is originally from Moberly, Missouri and is a 2004 graduate of Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Missouri.  She has a Bachelor of Science in Education and received her Lutheran Colloquy from Concordia University-Nebraska in 2009. In December 2013, Mrs. Beaudean completed her Master of Arts in Secondary Education: Educational Technology from Southeast Missouri State University. She currently lives in Jackson and is a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Gordonville. This is her ninth year at SLHS.

Mrs. Birk is originally from Bloomsdale, Missouri in Ste. Genevieve County. She is a 1990 graduate from Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science in education. She received her Master of Arts in Teaching from Webster University in 1997 and completed the Lutheran Colloquy program in 2005. Prior to Saxony, she taught nine years in the Perryville School District and two years in the Advance School District. She is a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Frohna. This is her twelth year at SLHS.

Cynthia Bradshaw

Mrs. Bradshaw has been in education for 29 years. After teaching at Cape Central High School for 27 years, she continues to teach part-time at Saxony and Southeast Missouri State University. Retirement does not stop her from doing what she loves--teaching! Her husband is also a former high school teacher and part-time university instructor. Mrs. Bradshaw has three wonderful stepchildren. This is her first year at SLHS.

Laura Chambless
Language Arts

 

Mrs. Chambless is a native of Cape Girardeau. She has earned a Bachelor of Science in English and Middle School Education and a Masters Degree in Biblical and Related Studies. Mrs. Chambless and her husband served as missionaries for four years in Novosibirsk, Russia. She has experience teaching English to international students and teaching Language Arts to high school students at a Christian school in Tennessee. Mrs. Chambless recently moved back to Southeast Missouri with her husband and two sons. They are members of Fruitland Church of Christ. This is her second year at Saxony.

Larry Cleair

Mr. Cleair attended Illinois State University, Winona State University in Minnesota, and graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in Mathematics in 1975. Mr. Cleair married his wife, Bev, in 1977 and they moved to Cape Girardeau in 1978. They purchased their current farm residence near Gordonville in 1979. In 2000 Mr. Cleair went on to earn a Masters Degree in Mathematics from Southeast Missouri State University.  In the fall of 2003, he was led by God to Saxony where he teaches math and coaches.  He is a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau where he currently serves on the board of elders and teaches adult Bible study. This is his eleventh year at SLHS.

Debra Davis

Debra Davis

Mrs. Davis studied music education at Southeast Missouri State University and church music at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. In addition to her work as a public and private school music and piano teacher, she has spent 40 years in ministry, including work as a church musician, Christian school principal, and disaster relief and mission team volunteer in the United States and Mexico. She is the wife of the pastor at Crossroads of Hope Community Church in Sikeston, Missouri. They have three married children and four grandchildren. This is her first year at SLHS.

Brenda Etzold
Science

 

Mrs. Etzold grew up in Farrar, attending Salem Lutheran Elementary School and Perryville High School. She graduated from the University of Missouri - Columbia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, majoring in Biology and Chemistry. She received a Master of Arts degree in Guidance and Counseling and a Specialist degree in Counseling Education from Southeast Missouri State University. Mrs. Etzold taught various biology and chemistry courses at Oran High School for four years and at Perryville High School for eight years. She has been a school counselor at Perryville High School and Jackson Junior High School. She and her husband are members of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson, and their four children are all Saxony graduates. This is her second year at SLHS.

Laura Hayden

Ms. Hayden

Ms. Hayden is a 2004 graduate of Concordia University, Seward.  She has a Bachelor of Science in Education with a concentration in Social Sciences. She is originally from Ankeny, Iowa, but now lives in Perryville, Missouri, with her dog, Lucy. Ms. Hayden is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. This is her tenth year at SLHS.

Sally Lorenz

Mrs. Lorenz, a native of Sikeston, Missouri, graduated from the University of Mississippi cum laude with a major in secondary English and a minor in Reading. Prior to coming to Saxony, she taught Physical Education at Trinity Lutheran School in Cape Girardeau, and served as a teacher's assistant at Cape Central Junior High School. Mrs. Lorenz is a member of LaCroix United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau and resides in Cape Girardeau with her husband and two sons. This is her fifteenth year at SLHS.

Nicolai Love

Mr. Love is a 2006 graduate from Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska, majoring in Natural Science.  He is currently working on his Masters in Science Education through Montana State University.  He married his wife, Sarah, in 2005.  They have have been blessed to have three children; Hannah, Martin, and Elaina.  Mr. Love previously taught in Little Rock, Arkansas for three years before the Lord led him to take a call at Saxony in 2009.  Mr. Love and his family are members of St. Paul in Jackson.  This is his sixth year at SLHS.

Danny McCrite

Mr. McCrite is is a 1975 graduate of Egyptian High School in Tamms, Illiinois. He graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale with a B.S. degree in 1982, a M.S. degree in 1990, and an administrative degree in 1992. He taught agriculture education for 23 years at Egyptian High School and was the principal at Egyptian Elementary for 5 years. Mr. McCrite sponsors the Saxony FFA chapter. He and his wife Julie live near Tamms with their daughter Kelsey, a freshman at Egyptian High School, and their son Alex, a sophomore at McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois. The McCrites also have four adult children. This is his first year at SLHS.

Christine Moore

Mrs. Moore graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in studio art with an emphasis in figurative painting, and a Bachelors of Art in German language and culture. In 2006 she graduated from Fontbonne University with a Masters of Arts in studio art, with an emphasis in figurative painting and drawing. Mrs. Moore previously taught at various elementary and secondary schools in Missouri. She and her husband are members of St. Vincent De Paul Church in Cape Girardeau. This is her first year at SLHS.

Mr. Simpson

Mr. Simpson is a 2002 graduate of Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska. He has a Bachelor of Science in Art Education and a minor in Theology. He is currently working on his Masters of Christian Studies through Grand Canyon University. He and his wife married in 2003. They are blessed to have two boys, Joshua and Benjamin. Before coming to Saxony, Mr. Simpson taught for two years at Heartland Lutheran School in Grand Island, Nebraska. Mr. Simpson and his family are members at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. This is his twelfth year in the teaching ministry and tenth year at SLHS.

Ms. Story graduated Summa Cum Laude from Southeast Missouri State University in 2009 with a B.S. in Spanish Secondary Education and a minor in French.  As part of her studies, she was an exchange student for one semester at ITESM in Querétaro, México.  She has lived in Cape Girardeau County all her life and attends Maple Avenue United Methodist Church in Jackson.  This is her fifth year at SLHS.

Mrs. Wichern

Mrs. Wichern graduated from Southeast Missouri State with a Bachelor of Science in Math. Prior to coming to Saxony she taught math for five years at St. Vincent High School in Perryville. Mrs. Wichern is a member at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson. This is her fifth year at SLHS.

Tyson Wunderlich
Instrumental Music
Mr. Wunderlich

Mr. Wunderlich earned his bachelor's degree in piano performance from Southeast Missouri State University, a master's degree in wind conducting from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, and a teaching certificate from the State of Missouri. He also completed the Lutheran Colloquy in 2010.  He directs the instrumental ensembles at Saxony and at St. Paul Lutheran School in Jackson and Trinity Lutheran School in Cape Girardeau. Away from the school setting, Mr. Wunderlich directs the Perry County Lutheran Chorale and serves as organist at his home church, Trinity Lutheran in Altenburg. He and his wife, Carrie, are blessed with their daughter, Layne. This is his ninth year at SLHS.

Mr. Zum Hofe comes to Saxony from the twin cities of Minnesota. He attended college at Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska. At Concordia, Mr. Zum Hofe received his degree in Secondary Education with emphasis in History and Theology. Mr. Zum Hofe attends St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. This is his eighth year at SLHS.

Mrs. Geringer has a Bachelor of Arts in English from Covenant College and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design and Illustration from Southeast Missouri State University. Before coming to Saxony, Mrs. Geringer worked as an event planner and graphic designer. She lives in the rural Jackson area with her husband and three children. They are members of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. This is her third year at SLHS.

Mrs. Mansfield

Ms. Mansfield is originally from Eureka, Missouri.  She currently does the accounting and some secretarial work for Saxony.  She is a 1989 graduate of Webster University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Labor Relations with an emphasis in business and accounting.  She moved to Cape Girardeau in 1992.  She is a very proud mother of four and grandmother of fifteen.  This is her eighth year at SLHS.

Mrs. Hoffman

Mrs. Hoffman comes to us from Perryville, Missouri. She graduated from Perryville High School and currently lives in Jackson with her husband, Wade, and their two children. Mrs. Hoffman's love for cooking was inspired by her mother, the former head cook at Immanuel Lutheran School in Perryville. The tradition carries on with Mrs. Hoffman as Saxony's head cook. This is her tenth year at SLHS.

Mrs. Huber is a Perryville, Missouri native and a graduate of Perryville High School. She attended Metro Business College and earned a medical assistant degree. Mrs. Huber is a proud mother of three boys, Matthew, Chad, and Riley and is grateful to have been a stay-at-home mom while raising her boys. Also residing with her in Jackson is her husband, John, and two dogs. This is her fifth year at SLHS.
