Mr. Ruark's Declaration of Thanksgiving

As we approach Thanksgiving break, I wish to share with you my thankfulness list as the principal of Saxony Lutheran High School.

I am thankful for working with an outstanding faculty that sets high expectations for students and works hard to help them achieve their goals. I am thankful we have a faculty who takes these words to heart in our mission statement: “Strive for excellence in all phases of education.”

I am thankful for our office staff and how hard they work in keeping the good Saxony ship afloat. I am thankful for the focus on customer service and the compassion they show in dealing with the many issues they address on a daily basis.

I am thankful to work with a Christ-centered and focused school counselor who goes the extra mile in attempting to meet the needs of our students.

I am thankful to work with a development director that is truly invested in students and always keeps the mission of Saxony at the forefront as she raises the funds to help operate our school.

I am thankful to work with a custodial and maintenance staff who treat this school not just as a place to clean, but as a mission of spreading God’s word.  I am thankful for our kitchen staff who plan and prepare meals as if they were doing so for their own family and treat our students and staff as family.

I am thankful for our athletic director, coaches, directors, and sponsors who set a Christian example for our students through extraordinary preparation and hard work and always manage to keep the focus Christ-centered.

I am thankful for our volunteers and donors who give freely of their time and money to support our school and the ability for Saxony to continue to “Share Christ and Shape Lives.”

I am thankful for our small group ministry, our chapel service, and the support from our association pastors who willingly come to our school and help us “Glorify God with One Voice.”

I am thankful for our Lutheran elementary schools along with their principals and staff who have provided the excellent foundation for many of our students.

I am thankful for our parents who have chosen to make the significant financial sacrifice to send their students to Saxony Lutheran High School to receive Christ-centered education.

I am thankful that every day I get to come to Saxony and work with an incredible group of students. What a joy it is to work with students who openly profess their faith and who joyfully praise and worship God.  I am thankful for their spirit, their desire to learn, and their love for Saxony Lutheran High School.

I am especially thankful that God has blessed me with a wonderful family.  My wife, my three sons, and my grandson bring me more joy and blessings than I deserve.

Finally, I am thankful for the birth, death, and the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the greatest gift of all, which is the promise of forgiveness and everlasting life for all who believe in Him.

We are truly blessed!  I wish for each of you a blessed Thanksgiving spent Glorifying God with One Voice!

- Mr. Mark Ruark, Principa
